My capstone project, “The Things Beneath a Girl’s Surface,” explores the hidden emotions girls often conceal beneath their outward appearances, such as sadness, creativity, change, fear, love, and anger. Through interactive posters, viewers can lift each layer to reveal a different emotion, symbolizing the complex internal world girl’s have that society often overlooks. This project aims to foster empathy, challenge stigma around emotional expression, and encourage greater emotional literacy, inspiring conversation and empowering girls to embrace and express their full emotional selves without fear of judgment.
