Karli Christofferson
[BFA] Studio Art – Printmaking
I weave threads of memory, experience, and music to craft a narrative that serves as a visual diary. My drawings are long rectangles where composition guides the viewer through a purposeful exploration from left to right or top to bottom. At the core of my creative process is a fascination with diptychs. As an identical twin, I’ve always been part of a pair, a reflection of another, and this unique experience has deeply influenced my artistic expression. Each piece resonates with the other, reflecting shared experiences yet maintaining individuality. This form of art allows me to explore the profound bond of twinning – the symmetry, the shared identity, and the divergence.
My paintings include a colorful fusion of wit and sensuality. The web of included relationships encompasses both friends and lovers– a tapestry where creativity intertwines with life’s most desirable and unfortunate outcomes. The connection between music and memory plays a significant role in my creative process, as autobiographical information associated with specific songs becomes a blueprint for each piece. My aim is to capture the intricate layers of memory, creating unique compositions that function as time capsules, inviting viewers into a resonant examination of their own lives.
