How It Happened

As a kid I had tons of coloring books, drew up fashion illustrations, wrote short stories, etc. Was very creative but never really got to expand on it. We moved from a small country school that housed two grades per year, depending on the amount of kids enrolling, to a smaller town where art wasn’t a class. It was more of a come and go sort of activity. There were two art projects per say that I remember most and it was of an art teacher I assume, coming in and teaching us how to draw a “realistic” barn. The second was a mosaic where every student got to place a mosaic piece onto the board. Literally that was it. They were very limited exposures to art but it was still very important.

Three years later, we moved again to Bertrand where there is an actual art foundation. It was so much fun diving in and it helped that the one and only art teacher in the school made it so. As years progressed it became the only thing I looked forward to every school day. Even went as far as to edit photos and create gifs on Tumblr for a period of time in high school. Freshman year of university I lacked art classes, all academics, and it was really difficult. It was as if I was missing something, so that’s why on a spur of the moment I declared to be an art major.
