Today we purchased our wordpress themes and I ended up going with a free one since the nicer ones are quite pricy. The process of installing was harder than I expected but it was easy to follow. Now its time to start importing images. We also got to listen to Fred Dust speak and I think he made some really good points about the design process and was an excellent story teller!

Today in class we started looking at wordpress themes. I am hoping to find a free one that I like but you get what you pay for. I think wordpress is a really neat site where you have the ability to customize without doing all of the coding basics. I am looking for a clean and minimal template.

I have having trouble making the gif in photoshop, so I decided to make mine if After Effects and import it to photoshop and work with the layers there. I have started to do that but the gif looks more glitchy than it did when I was in after effects. I have tried experimenting with the amount of slides/timing but that hasn’t seemed to solve the problem. I am hoping to have this figured out by the next class.

Today in class we looked at what everyone has been coding or the process of the behance pages. I am began to work on my behance page and have most of the elements in place I just need to continue working on the animations that will be embedded. Making the gifs seems easy but I am nervous on how to export that for the web.

Today in class we talked about animating gifs and watched a quick example on how to do them in photoshop. We have had experience making gifs in After Effects so I am hoping that the process will be similar.

For this next project we are thinking about designing a story that will be coded. I am thinking about what a good process story would be that is dynamic and interesting to scroll through, such as the design that we looked at for how the craft beer was made. I would like to try and do interesting things but the fear of how to code the design is sometimes frightening and discouraging because even the most simple animation can be a lot of steps. It will be interesting to hear what the other students in class come up with for their designs.

Today in class we had our critique over the advanced navigation system that we worked on over spring break. I think that I got good feedback on what I can do to take my design further and was able to think about more things that I could do such as animations and sounds.

There are four positions for CSS coding: relative, absolute, fixed, and static. These positions are set to place an image within the code, and each has their own property. You have these options when it comes to coding anything in the CSS that can alter the page in slight ways that will make a large difference in the design.

Today in class we starting working on animations and making gifs in photoshop. Never knew how easy it was but there is still some difficulty in getting them to run smoothly without glitches. I have had experience making gifs in aftereffects.

We also started to look into what it means to have a site that is responsive, which depends on the wireframing and how using media queries. Those are CSS3 coding that lets the coder assign styles to a page based on the destination broweres width and height.
