I have decided to overhaul most of my idea. I want to make it more artistic looking and a little more visually interesting. The only problem I had with my last design was that I thought it was really boring. All of my pages had the same design and I was having trouble. It usually takes me two tries before I get something good.

For my webpage, I really want to include a navigation system that has a sliding, roll over function. In chapter nine I learned how to create a button, how to align it either in a vertical block or in a horizontal line. It also how to make the button change colors when you rolled over it. It was also discussed about what links should be emphasized and what shouldn’t.
For my interactive website, I want to incorporate my comic into it. My comic is about making an omelet. It is geared towards people who are just learning to cook. Throughout the site I want information about techniques and facts about eggs. It will mostly comprise of images and GIFs. I didn’t really put a grid on it because I want it to flow like it was a comic. So your eye would start at the top and follow through in a ‘S’ shaped curve.
I think my navigation turned out well. I wish I had more user interaction with it though. I tried designing mobile navigation as well. I should have started out with that. I think the design would have been much better.
After working on the wireframes, I still didn’t have a great idea for my navigation system. But I have finally come up with one. The system I have come up with, uses lighting as a way to distinguish the items that go together. You can separate the each category into terms, technologies, or talents. The other way you can do it is to scroll over the circles that I have and the name of the item will pop up. When you select a circle it will open up a diamond that gives a short description. The link to the website is the name of the item. The other things that are linked to it are lit up. This system is similar to the way I have my phone system set up as well.
I’m having a really hard figuring out the navigation system. I’m trying to be creative and unique, but it seems like all of my ideas are just like everyone else’s. I don’t know what I’m doing. But on the bright side, I finished the layout and design of the term, designer, and technology page. I though it looked nice. It’s definitely not very interactive though. I don’t think I have the head for it.
I found out how to get my background back!! It was a small error near the beginning of my CSS. I had my general font-family list outside of a bracket and that’s why it wasn’t showing up. So I put it in a bracket and now everything is a-ok. I finished all of my pages and did my wireframe. The wireframe isn’t very detailed and I hope that is ok. I was having trouble think up good wireframes. I don’t really have the head for creating interesting, interactive navigations, but I tried and that’s all that counts.
Chapter seven I found really helpful. I used the borders in my design of my own website, but selectively. I still haven’t figured out how to fix the disappearing background problem though. I don’t think I understood the navigation sketches. I did a couple sketches, but they all look like a beginning website page.
While working in CSS, I cannot seem to get my background color to appear in my first section. I had it for a while, but it just keeps disappearing and I have no idea where it goes. I feel like my text all looks correct. I can’t find any errors, but that background keeps disappearing. I have the background color on my second section and it’s till there. I even have a background picture on top of it. I was talking to Leah and she said she was having the same problem.
I’m having trouble setting up my pages in Dreamweaver. My HTML looks fine, but it doesn’t do what I want it to. I have everything I want separated into sections and from there separated into divs. For some reason there is this huge space at the top of the page when I open it in a browser. Could it be because of the margins set? The only problem I have with that is that there is not margin at the bottom of the page so I didn’t think that it was the margin. Also, when I tried to place my photo in HTML, it won’t show up. I have it on my computer and the code looks fine, but it just won’t show up. Could there be a lock on the photo? Should I just link the photo from the internet? It just makes me feel frustrated.
