For my senior thesis, I created an NFL Nature Week Concept. The National Football League is increasing its popularity in the midst of declaring a climate emergency. They earn an estimated $8.1 billion in annual revenue every year from ticket sales, merchandising, licensing and corporate sponsorships. They currently have “do-good” projects such as “NFL Crucial Catch” to fight cancer. This project raised $20 million annually. With the momentum the NFL has in our country along with our threat to our world, it felt appropriate to create this project.
NFL Nature Week is a week in the regular season where team would give back to the outdoors in their state. I redesigned each team’s logo which would be used as jersey badges the players would wear along with apparel and merchandise for the fans. A portion of ticket and apparel sales will be used to give money to an environmental cause or national park in that team’s state. Creating this concept top to bottom required a number of deliverables. Along with the logos, I created branding for the project, a commercial and 3 custom embroidered footballs. I was challenged as a creative to not only use design and illustration but also marketing, video, finance and environmental research.
